Mr. Skilz

We can no longer put off babyproofing. Bubba is now fully mobile. For the last couple weeks, he has been giving us warning signs. He has been working hard to pull to a stand and rocking back and forth on his hands and knees in an attempt to crawl. Now, he can crawl all around our front room and is excited to pull himself up on whatever he can to get to whatever electronic device or other non-toy item Kevin and I have been trying to keep away from him. I introduced the laundry basket to him last week (we don't have any safe baby toys to pull up on) and he loves to cruise around it or push it around the living room like a walker. Who needs fancy toys when you have laundry baskets!

Bubba's New Hair-do

Bubsy got his first hair cut last weekend. We decided that as much as we love his hair, it was becoming much too long and wild. He had a great time exploring the salon and flirting with all the hairdressers and customers. Here is a good "before" picture.

Kalani did really well until the last part of the haircut. Too itchy from the hair that fell on his back, plus the electric shears used for the nape of his neck was a bit scary. Overall, he (and Megan, our hairdresser) did a fabulous job!

And now the new-do! I have to admit we were more than a little sad to part with his curls. It's strange too how a first hair cut can make him seem like such a big boy. Don't worry, I won't go into a "he's growing up too fast" tirade... not aloud anyway. :)

Our Idol Judge

Sorry all for the sideways view. We discovered that Kalani loves American Idol and takes a big interest in the singers. He knows who he likes - and who he doesn't. He was not a fan of this particular singer.

Where We've Been....

I have to laugh a bit as I read several of my fellow blogger's recent posts. It seems many of us have been bad bloggers lately - just too busy I guess. I want to capture some of Kalani's adventures these last two months, especially since much of it was over the holidays so I will give a brief overview.... going backwards. Here is where we've been...

Our little cupid on Valentine's. He got a yummy stash of goodies from all his girlfriends at daycare.

Kalani says several "words," including dada, ba (for ball), and hi (with a near silent "h"). He has been babbling up a storm, as if he is saying something of great import - which I'm sure he is. We love to hear him talk and all the new sounds he is making. Yesterday, he growled at us quite ferociously. That actually was a bit scary.

At CPS fundraiser... Kalani helping the boys sing "Silhouettes."

What better way to learn language than to read his books. If chewing on all your books is "reading," Kalani is a star student.

He loves to stand, and he cruises a bit using the couch. He always seems so proud of himself as he holds on and walks all around. He hasn't completely mastered crawling, but he seems to manage to get where he wants.

Kalani loves people and people watching - I'm afraid he gets that from me. He stares and stares (I get in trouble for doing that) and he loves to visit with babies. I really wonder what he thinks or if he realizes that he too is a baby.

Kalani is invading Addison's space a bit in this next shot.

Lately, he has been into kissing - french kissing that is. He will grab our faces and lay really wet ones on us. It's very sweet although a bit messy.

Kevin and I think Kalani has a great sense of humor. He's an interesting baby, how he can be so somber and observant, then so silly at other times. He still loves to shake his head no (his "Animal" impersonation that we love so much). He and Kevin and I take turns copying each other - making loud noises then laughing. He loves peek-a-boo, swinging through the air, and hanging upside down and butting his ball with his head. There is nothing I love better than to make him laugh!

We've had one celebration after another. Going backwards, it's been, valentines, my birthday, our fifth anniversary, new years, christmas... we didn't capture photos of all the major events, but did get a few good ones at Christmas.

Kalani made several fun outings as well. He is such the social butterfly... Here he is hanging out with his Auntie Syd.

A baby... no, three babies? In a bar?
